I love my job, it is my dream job. The job that I have dreamed about upon entering the work place.
Me and my Dad |
She taught me about "urban homesteading". The more I learned, the more passionate I became about the subject. The more passionate I became the more I wanted to share, the more I shared, the happier I was.
My interest in being self-sustaining first came from my Dad. unfortunately the lessons he taught me didn't really sink in until my early twenties, after I bought my first house.
Flash back to my early 20s being at the grocery store and looking at the price of grapes thinking "Shoot, I could grow my own for half that price". As I usually do, I went in head fist into the project without really thinking anything though.
The next weekend I had raised garden beds some grape starts, a hand full of seeds, and not a clue what I was doing.
One sad tomato and Jalapenos |
That fist year none of my plants produced.
In reality the next year brought many hardships and little time for growing plants. What did grow was a beautiful and rewarding relationship with my, soon to be, husband.
This year my first house is now being rented out by a fantastic young lady and I have a functioning urban homestead my life partner.
side note: I apologize my the awful pictures. I am realizing that I have a severe lack of quality photos at my disposal. This will soon be remedied, promise.
